A watercourse is a pattern in the earth made by the movement or flow of water.
I chose this name for my ceramic endeavors to reflect the unending possibilities of form that can be created with mud (clay) and water in the making of pottery.
Ceramics is the alchemy of these elements willed to form with the addition of force and the freedom of imagination! It’s an ancient art form that often embraces function as well as beauty.
My pottery is inspired by Nature and intended to be both beautiful and functional. Most of my work is wheel thrown with elements of hand building and carving to enhance the form.
I prefer simple forms and work primarily with glazes and oxides that reflect the tones of the earth.
Some imperfections in form and finish remain intentionally to reflect the alchemy of process and the hand of the maker.
